Arrives 11.19 for harbour and beach-hut tour then 40 flat miles to all those household names: Herne Bay, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal, Dover.......train back from somewhere down there. Swim.

Saturday 2: Sudbury ride. Gentle circular route through lovely Essex and Suffolk countryside. Includes pretty villages, quiet lanes, Colne valley and calling in at Ridgewell gliding club. About 40 miles. Meet at Liverpool Street under big train indicator board at 10.30 for 10.47 departure. Returning at 18.12 (arr. 19.36). Later trains every hour.

Saturday 9: The West Thames Fiddle Meet: 10am Cutty Sark then 10.45am National Film Theatre cafe to pick up the Southwark crew, South Bank, under southern armpit of Waterloo Bridge. (where Critical Mass meets at 6pm on the last Friday of every month.....end June will be excellent...you'll love/hate it. But if you cycle in London you should open mind sample it). Saturday's Route? On the road to the NFT for a coffee then we join the Thames Path and meander it slowly all the way to Richmond Park where we ride the excellent cinder track round the perimeter before lunch in the cafe by the golf course. Optional ways back courtesy of Roger and the Hammersmith meadows, or train to London or roads back to Cutty Sark. A really slow flat ride with loads to see. A riverside tour. Around 30 miles.
Festival of Cycling Rides: From 16 to 24 June 2001 is the National Festival of Cycling. There are around 300 events in the UK, 100 of those are in London and run by London Cycling Campaign local groups. Greenwich Cyclists are putting on 7 events, more than any other borough. All these rides are free to all, just turn up and go. Contact us for more information.

A slow scenic riverside ramble with lots of stops...The Dome, the Flood Barrier, Woolwich Ferry, City Airport, the Royals, River Lea, Trinity Buoy Wharf, the Isle of Dogs, Greenwich Foot Tunnel and home. Optional extension: Isle of Dogs, Wapping, Tower Bridge, Rotherhithe, Deptford, home. 3 hours/12 miles or 6 hours/20 miles. Some minor roads. Suitable for accompanied children over 7.
Sunday 17: 10am Cutty Sark Greenwich, and back Love Lea Valley. Under the Foot Tunnel and onto the Isle of Dogs to where the Lea joins the Thames. Then off-road river and canal-side. A flat slowish 30 mile round-trip led by a Sustrans Ranger responsible for that stretch. Almost no roads. Suitable for accompanied children over 7.
Tuesday 19: 7pm Cutty Sark. Afterworker. A quicker riverside and main road round trip of 20 miles in all. For the more experienced, but paced for all.

Sunday 24: 10am Cutty Sark. Oystercatcher. 65 miles to lovely Whitstable Harbour. Some busy main roads until Gravesend then lovely quiet lanes and bike paths. Late train back to London Bridge. 30 mile option: train to Rochester and meet us at lunch there. Must arrange. Medium pace.
