1. Welcome & Introductions
17 attended (see attached)
2.Notes of July meeting
Agreed as correct
3. Planning Issues
Nick circulated a planning document detailing the 3 main issues. (See attached) He has suggested that the planning sub group meet to make formal representation to Greenwich Council.
Action: Nick Williams
There was a lively discussion around speed cushions/should we have 20mph speed limits. All were in favour of 20mph speed limits but there was little agreement on the best type of speed cushions to promote. Most considered that they were not entirely cycle friendly. Nick agreed to draft a response.
Action: Nick Williams has asked that people look at the LCN maps that he will arrange to have put onto the website (when Andy returns from holiday at the end of August) and to make comments back to him at Nick Williams
The Thames path between Hoskins Street and the Cutty Sark pub has been blocked off by Berkley Homes who are completing building works there. It is understood that the planning permission was contingent on the Thames Path remaining open. A notice at the blocked portions states that munitions have been found necessitating a temporary closure. This is an important local route and must not remain closed. Nick has agreed to write a letter to Russell Power, Head of Legal Services, expressing our concerns at the closure of the path.

4. School project
Eltham Green School are really keen to work with us on the project. Unfortunately it is now the school summer holidays so it is proving difficult to communicate with them to take the planning forward.
Now that we have also have funding from the Neighbourhood Innovations Fund we are looking at introducing cycle training for all year 7 pupils and cycle maintenance classes in the evening for which would be open to the whole school.
Work needs to start on planning the launch on Car Free Day. Action: Hilary will continue to try to contact the school.
A press release was sent out during July asking for old BMX/ mountain bikes to be donated to Greenwich Cyclists. We have £1,000 to buy some bikes as part of the schools project. The bikes will be stored at the school and a decision what to do with the bikes after the project is completed will be made at a later date.
It was suggested that organisations that hire out bikes sell them off at the end of the season and it might be worth contacting them.
A request was made that when press releases go out they should be posted on the elist, to keep everyone informed of what is going all. This was agreed.
5. Finances
We lost £1.50 from the Dunwich Dynamo and one cheque bounced.
The application for the new bank account has been sent off.
The grant money will be paid retrospectively.
6. Funding
A paper was tabled (see attached) containing options for funding to help us match fund
the previous grants that we have had.
It was agreed that the School project subgroup submit a bid to the Awards for All
and Community Chest
.
7. Thames River Crossing
The suggested response submitted from the subgroup was reviewed again. There was much discussion around this topic and a vote was taken.
6 were against the bridge as currently planned
4 were for the bridge
7 abstained
Barry has agreed to build on the good work already completed by the subgroup and draft a response on behalf of the group. It was agreed that the response needs to say that if the bridge does go ahead it should consider the needs of cyclists in the design. The group wishes to thank the subgroup for all their hard work.
8. Website
Sadly, Doug no longer wishes to design and upkeep the website. Andy has offered to take this over. Karen Marks at krsmarks@yahoo.com should still be emailed with any items for the website whilst Andy is away. Karen is willing to provide some assistance to Andy where she can.
A vote of thanks to Doug for all his good work.
9. Bike Stall / Dr Bike: Sun 10 August
We need volunteers to help out on the day. Frances, Dave and Pete have agreed to help.
10. Rides
The rides for August are as stated in the Pedal Power.
11. Anything else?

We need volunteers for the October, November and December easy going rides please contact
Kate Lees
Business cards
It was suggested that these would be very useful for the group. Terry agreed to submit a bid for some funds from the Neighbourhood Renewal Community Learning Chest. (See attached)
£10,000 Grant for Car Free Day
Nick explained that he had checked out with the council what was happening with the grant with a view to suggest activities such as ?crazy bikes?, ?cycle training? and ?team xtreme?. Unfortunately the entire grant has already been committed. Greenwich Council has planned a big event on 21st September. It was suggested and agreed that we organise another Dr Bike Session and Stall in Cutty Sark Gardens on the day.
The meeting closed at 9.05
