Matters Arising
Liz to seek guidance from LCC on difference between third party and public liability insurance as regards bike rides.
John H said every ride would be notified to the LCC beforehand, and that LCC members who led rides were insured.
3. Rides
* Sat March 5, Easygoer to Borough Market, same time as a Multiple Sclerosis 20-km Thames Path ride, meet 1000 CSG.
* Sun March 6 Thames Path to Abbey Wood, 1100 Abbey Wood Station, Wilton Road (F.Renton)
* May 1 John H plans an Isle of Wight ride, details to follow
* May 8 Railway excursion Clapham Junction to Rugby
* Aug 26-30 Wild Wales Challenge (kservadei).
4. Bike Week
John H said focus was on getting more people on rides and quality of events rather than quantity.
* June 11 Dr.Bike Stall at CSG, Hilary to ask Sue at Greenwich Council about permission.
* Maybe set up stall every evening at Tunnel entrance
* After workers every evening of Bike Week, starting with Monday to Pilot Inn, Tues Lee Valley, Weds Waterlink Way, Thurs Erith.
* Liz daytime ride Friday.
* Feeder ride Weds to Barry Mason's Shakespeare Globe breakfast
* Possible Thursday event for disabled to try bikes
* Saturday Falling Leaves ride ending at Derek's Barbecue, West Norwood
5. Planning
Anthony said Greenwich Council's lead cycle officer Don Anyiam at a Feb 9 meeting reported on progress of traffic schemes to improve cycling. It was too late in the current financial year to start to implement a proposed contraflow system in Greenwich Town Centre but the idea is not dead. Mast Pond Wharf Thames Path, Kidbrooke Park Rd and Stockwell St improvements would be completed this financial year.
We meet Greenwich Councillors on March 9 in Woolwich to discuss London Cycle Network Plus programmes 2003/04 and 2004/05 and 2005/06, Westminster Industrial Estate "missing link" on Thames Path, Council's cycle promotion strategy including Bike Week, Car Free Day.
CRISP and CRIM cycle route process. Anthony invited to a March 16 all-day consultation about the proposed route from Lewisham Halfpenny Bridge to Bexleyheath, he asking the consultant to widen the invitation to other Greenwich Cyclists.
6. Maintenance Classes
Julian said about 10 had completed the latest course and he is offering another class on Weds April 20, 27, May 11, 18 as well as a 1-day basic class on June 8 before Bike Week.
7. Pedal Power
Julian asked for volunteers to produce and distribute it.
8. Sustrans Ranger
Teri to contact Rachel Dobson about our commitment to patrol and maintain the Thames Path in Greenwich.
9. Other Business
Finance. Derek said the club's general fund would have a balance £500-£600
after allocating funds to various headings eg hall hire maintenance etc
The school project has at least £1,900 underspent. the funders have agreed
to allow this money to be spent on further training at Thomas a Beckett
school. we Propose to cycle-train an additional 12 pupils, we also have
monet still waiting to be claimed from the previous project, and if this is
not claimed we will use this also for additional training.
