Discussed:
1. BM opened meeting and all introduced themselves.
2. London Cycle Network Budget: LCC AGM reported loss of £8m budget for cycle network in 2002/3. Emergency motion drafted, vote unanimous to reinstate £12 million. There is optimism that the money will appear.
3. Working with Thames Water: BM met with Paul Bartlett who had arranged the summer ride. Wants GC to organise similar events and for GC to look after stretch of Thames path that runs along the Thames Water site, prepared to pay. Awaiting more info from PB.
4. International Womenís Festival 2002: Kate presenting list of ideas for activities. Working party to be set up, volunteers required.
5. Planning: Halfpenny Hatch footbridge at Deptford Creek ready in February. GC to arrange an event to mark the opening. Links Norman Road to Creekside. Meridian Gateway scheme: bike path down the side of Deptford Creek next door to Laban Centre. Tram service: planned for route from N. Greenwich to W. Greenwich, public transport and cyclists only.
6. Funds: Velodrome trip raised £105 minus £26 vat. There is the ongoing expense of £20 to hire room at Greenwich Forum for monthly meetings. Funds are down, we spent £500 on Car Free Day, all agree it was worth it. There followed a long debate on ideas for raising the necessary revenue to pay cost of the room. One idea was to make a small charge for rides (£1), there was a majority in favour of this at the meeting. Agenda item for next meeting.
7. Christmas Party: 19 December at Admiral Hardy. £12 per head. Donations requested for the raffle. Each person to bring a wrapped present, cost approx. £2.00. Money to Julian.
8. AOB: Trudi Hannaford did a presentation on cycling bands she is marketing. This was unexpected and therefore attracted some criticism as permission had not been requested.
Francis Renton intends to provide guidance on cycling safely to Goldsmiths students for Freshers week.
Next Meeting: 7.30, 5 December at Greenwich Forum.
