Wild Wales: Bala 2007

Wild Wales Challenge: Bala 2007 Friday 24 – Tuesday 28 August

Yes, folks, it's time to start thinking about and planning for Bala! Greenwich Cyclists are heading back to North Wales for the 6th time for a weekend of fun and challenging rides through some of the most beautiful scenery in Wales . Bala is a lovely little Welsh speaking market town.

Sunday 26 August is the big Wild Wales Challenge. Probably the CTC's toughest UK ride. 600 entries. 89 miles in the mountains. Stunning scenery. We're a bit famous there because most of us use commuter type bikes rather than stripped down skinny road bikes. It's a long day but we do it.

We organise other rides the other days. Including up to and round gorgeous Lake Vyrnwy.

And swim in lake Bala before breakfast/after rides. Optional.

This year most will be staying at the Bala Backpackers again. We have provisionally booked 14 beds in this lovely place smack bang in the town centre. Cost £47 for the 4 nights exclusive of Breakfast.

Last year we had 20 in the group and some stayed in more expensive hotels (approximate cost £69 for a twin room with breakfast or B&B nearby approx £55 for twin room). I have a list of hotels in Bala for anyone who wants to book a hotel or B&B (those these go very fast) and use our transport facilities. We are limited this year by the size of vans available at a reasonable cost, and can only take 18 so early booking is advised.

The cost of the travel there and back will now be around £63 per person with a returnable deposit of £20 assuming no damage occurs to the vans.

To book transport and or accommodation please email Karen Servadei.

We will be booking vans to take people and bikes up there on Friday 24th August and returning on Tuesday 28th August.

For more information on travel and accommodation please email Karen Servadei or phone Barry Mason on 07905 889 005. For more information and to book your place on the cycling challenge check out Mersyside CTC.

If you are booking onto the Wild Wales Challenge make sure you state your cycling club as Greenwich Cyclists.
