Notes of Meeting - December 2005

1. Welcome & Introductions
7 cyclists attended, 1 apology.

2. Minutes of November meeting approved.

3. Rides.
Ray, the rides coordinator will now put rides up on the website. He will put the schedule for rides until Jan 8th on the website tomorrow.

Julian and Barry stated that the Lewisham/Greenwich/Southwark monthly rides meetings to coordinate rides across the three boroughts is unique and works exceedingly well.

4. LCC Borough Group Meeting.

4a. Olympic Working Group
The Olympic Working Group is set to represent the Olympics from each borough. Presently there is no contact for the borough of Greenwich. It was agreed that as much cycling as possible to the Olympics should be promoted, as there will only be 5000 car parking places on green fields.

Liz stated that she may be interested in being the Greenwich contact.

Ray asked if there could be more than one representative. Julian did not know the answer but thought that it could be useful.

Action: Julian to send link to the YahooGroup.

4b. Other LCC news

5. Mayors Ride 2006
Mast Pond Wharf should have reopened by the time the ride takes place. It is imperative that this happens as the alternative route is unsuitable for a charity ride. Julian stated that we should provide sweeping / Dr Bike facilities and on the move services, not static marshalling which can be carried out by other parties.

The exact route is still being discussed, however we should push for a river path route from Cutty Sark, and not Trafalgar Road. Blind corners need static marshalling. Westminster Industrial Park needs to be open.
ACTIONJulian to contact Donald Aniyam to enquire about the route, press coverage, and other organisations to work with.

6. LCC AGM
Barry stated that this event was well attended with over 70 people, and mostly a very good meeting, just critical of the cartoonist who was making sexist jokes.

7. CRIM Study
The A2 LCN+ route was discussed for the part running through Greenwich Borough which is from Deptford High Street to the Sun in the Sands roundabout. It was decided that Blackheath Hill as an unpleasant route, and High Vale is a suitable alternative. The CRISP will be taking place on a date yet to be announced.

8. Womens Week
The dates for this are currently unknown. We need to publicise the event and Liz is happy to provide some basic training at the Woolwich Waterfront. £60 is required for insurance purposes. Liz would like a ratio of one trainer to six participants, therefore calling for more trainers. Liz will propose the requirements to the January meeting.

9. AOB
Pedal power is due out 8/12/05. Distribution will be on 15/12. Distributors are Julian, Andy, Ray, and Liz.

Bike mainenance classes are taking place on 18/01/06 for the basic class, and then two intermediate classes on 08/02/06 and 15/02/06. All three classes are taking place at the Armada Centre.
