1. Welcome & Introductions
12 cyclists attended, three apologies.
2. Dember Minutes
These were approved.
3. Rides
Forthcoming rides include Liz's Friday programme, Barry's Locks, Stocks on Jan 9, Anthony to lead an easygoer on Sat Feb 5.
Julian said a Borough Coordinators meeting clarified that people taking part in a ride were insured through the LCC if the ride leader was an LCC member.
4. Planning
(1) Nick reported on the December 13 meeting with Greenwich Council engineer Donald Anyiam (report on website). LCN+ projects for current financial year include Thames Path west of Woolwich Ferry, realignment of right turn from Greenwich High Road into Stockwell Street, contraflows in King William Walk and Nevada Street.
Agreed: To hold fire on tabling questions for full Council Meeting in view of council's more positive stance.
Action: Nick to find out dates of CRIMs/CRISPs consultations about cycle routes.
Nick to draft comments on the Council's sports strategy.
Nick to draft agenda for our next meeting with Councillors O'Mara and Brooks on March 9.
(2) John Hearns said barriers at Surrey Quays designed to stop motor scooters were also hindering wheelchairs and push-chairs, but were in accordance with Sustrans guidelines.
Action: Nick said he would check whether barriers on the Thames Path around Woolwich also conformed.
5. Ceilidh
Karen S read out Karen M's report showing that the event resulted in a net profit of £403.58. Derek said this figure was £415.32, including return of the £120 deposit. Door sales were low as seven tickets were allowed to be resold by people who had purchased several but not sold all of them. A survey showed that more than 50 people had attended last year, 40 learned of the ceilidh from other cyclists, 7 from an ad in LCC magazine, 5 from the GC website, 7 from the GC e-list, 3 from Pedal Power. Nobody mentioned the posters, despite our vast distribution.
Conclusions: Word of mouth the best medium, food ran out early and some people complained, need order for 120 next year. Skip poster advertising, concentrate on cyclists, need more volunteers on the door. Bike park run by Andy worked fine. Two dancers had their handbags stolen, apparently by thief entering hall via the fire escape. Hall management might have told us this had happened before.
Note -- Hackney's Burns Nights Ceilidh on Saturday Jan 29.
6. Borough Co-ordinators Meeting
Julian said several Borough Coodinators had praised their local councils over cycling.
Bike Week in June will be preceded by a primary school "ride to school" week in April
Action: Derek, Julian and Hilary to discuss implications for potential donors if we changed our financial year (again) from financial year to calendar year to conform with LCC.
7. AOB
It was agreed to continue with our own website at cost of about £70 for two years rather than have LCC host it for free. Members felt we would have more control this way, as long as Andy was prepared to do it.
Post meeting update - The total cost for two years inc VAT = £92.81.
Next Meeting: Wednesday 2nd February. Nick to chair in Julian's absence.
