2(ii) Report on Schools Project 2005
This year has been a bit slow on the school project.
We have had to finalise the grans from the previous two years, submit reports and receive the final grant monies, including our proposal for spending the underspend, and receiving approval from the grant providers to use this underspend on further training at St.Thomas a Becket school, and a small project to be fun by Greenwich Council which has still to be carried out.
For the future:
1. We need to decide on what format any further projects will take.
2. What recognition will Greenwich Cyclists receive for our involvement?
3. How the training will take place, and who will provide that training, and how we go about receiving value for money from the trainers.

3. Rides
Ray said a rides schedule for the rest of the summer had been arranged with Lewisham and Southwark cycle groups. Greenwich agreed to run Tuesday afterworkers starting 6.30 pm from Cutty Sark Gardens.
Karen S said 3 out of 27 had dropped out of Aug 26-30 Bala ride in N.Wales. These 3 plus about 10 other places still available, cost £75 includes accommodation and transport.
John H was thanked for a spearheading a full programme that focused on quality rather than quantity, and attracted a lot of local interest during National Bike Week.

4. Planning
Teri asked Anthony to draw Greenwich Council's attention to bricks missing on the Thames Path near the Anchor & Hope, and to subsidence alongside the aggregates plant between there and Greenwich Yacht Club. This should be to Council's lead cycling officer Donald Anyiam via his official email address.
Anthony reported there would be a meeting in Woolwich on Friday July 15, to finalise the CRISP on cycle route 65 between Lewisham and Bexley.
AGREED to sign off the route but via Creek Road, Haddo Street, Roan Street, Stockwell Street and Crooms Hill, rather than the original route.
Anthony said the developer of Greenwich Reach East was sounding faint hearted about building a footbridge over the mouth of Deptford Creek, as originally proposed.
AGREED to write Greenwich Council and the Developer London Merchant Securities urging the construction of this pedestrian/cycling continuation of the Thames Path.

5. TfL Design Standards Handbook
Julian passed round Transport for London's handbook on design standards for cycle lanes etc. Anthony will keep a copy.

6. Ceilidh
Karen Marks said a group had been formed of herself, Karen Servadei, Danuta and Barry to organise this year's ceilidh, Greenwich Cyclists' main social and fund-raising event.
It's on Saturday December 17, 7pm to midnight in the West Greenwich Community Centre, Greenwich High Road. Music by The Muckers, tickets same as last year i.e . £15 full, £10 concessions.
Karen M noted that the 2004 ceilidh had raised more than £400 and the committee requested an advance of up to £400 to book the hall £150 and pay caterers an advance. She said the hall's liquor licence was expiring and the committee planned to run our own bar with a professional bartender.
Derek said he had agreed at the AGM to the ceilidh on condition that all cheques and other payments went through the Treasurer. He said unallocated money in club accounts was around £400, which he would confirm at the next meeting, but that this account should not be depleted below £100.
AGREED to postpone a decision on the funding advance until August meeting.

7. Training
(i) Michael Attride said he had been appointed Greenwich Council cycle training officer, in Khair un Nisa Simmonds' department. His task was to identify training needs for 10-11 year olds in the Borough for on-road and off-road cycle training, and supervise trainers.
(ii) Liz said she was qualified as a cycle trainer for adults, and raised the question of whether we wanted to send her or someone else on a course for training children. Some members felt it was problematical to offer child courses. Others said it should be okay if children were accompanied by parents.
AGREED Liz to make a proposal if she wanted to proceed.
