1. Welcome & Introductions
Anthony Austin (Chair), Andy Braben, Stephen Craven, Liz Delap, Sarah Ellis, Teri Griffiths, Derek Mark, Stuart Parkins, Kathryn Pearson, David Senior and Chris Worrall.
Apologies from Chris le Breton.
2. Minutes of Last Meeting.
Approved
3. Matters Arising
a) Old Royal Naval College
Anthony had contacted Donald Anyiam and the letter was posted on the website (it also addressed other issues such as the Hexagon development, parking, CRISPs, the missing link and cycle training). There had been no progress by London Borough of Greenwich (LBG) on access at the Trafalgar gate (east end) which had to be completed before the path could be declared open. Liz suggested involving the press but it was suggested that Anthony should contact Don again first and only arrange a press photocall if there was still no response. Action – Anthony.
b) Greenwich Reach East
The latest plans for this housing development show a gated community and no bridge across Deptford Creek although the earlier consultation had shown a bridge with no mention of it being a gated development. No action at present.
c) Greenwich Park
Liz had spoken to Derek Spurr who wished to delay the next meeting until after the inquest in January.
4. Planning Issues
a) Hexagon development
Anthony said that one person in the Westcombe Society seemed to be leading the challenge to LBG. No action required at present.
b) A102/A2 CRIM
The route was mostly covered by two earlier CRIMs. A revised date was awaited from LBG. David would attend if possible.
5. Greenwich Park
There had been extensive discussion on the yahoo group about enforcement by the police of the no-cycling section of path at the Maze Hill gate. It was not clear if anyone had been fined rather than just cautioned. It was agreed that Greenwich Cyclists as a group had no particular view on the issue. Anthony would summarise the discussion as an article for London Cyclist and also discuss with Julian attendance at future Borough Co-ordinator's meetings. Action – Anthony.
6. Website
The group website home page currently showed photos from the September Freewheel event but it needed updating regularly with more recent events. Andy would be able to create a 'rotating' photo gallery using facilities available from the alternative ISP whom it was proposed to use from April 2008; there would also be facilities for committee members to upload content directly. It was agreed that we need not wait until April; Andy would start to develop the new site offline with a view to going live with the new provider as soon as the committee had agreed the format of the new site at a subsequent meeting. Action – Andy & Stuart
7. Training
Chris le Breton had been offered a 50% grant from CTC towards training as a trainer and requested that the group meet the rest of the cost (approximately £300) from our training budget. Various options were discussed but the consensus was that we pay all but £100 of the remaining cost, on the understanding that if Chris raised at least £100 in the first two years from training undertaken (in addition to covering the cost of insurance, currently £50 a year), the £100 would then be given to him to reimburse the remainder of the training cost. Proposed Derek, seconded Teri, agreed unanimously.
8 Maintenance
Andy had assisted Julian at recent classes but no more were planned for the remainder of the year. Teri said she had benefited from attending the classes. Kathryn asked if classes were advertised on the website. Action – Anthony to discuss future dates with Julian.
9. Rides
Chris had not attended the 3-borough planning meetings recently. Liz had arranged to lead some rides and Teri said she would be willing to lead some next year. It was agreed that Greenwich should have more input into the rides programme.
10. Pedal Power
The next issue would be mid-December (publication date to be agreed at next meeting).
11. Christmas Social
A date of Saturday 15 December was agreed for a social event at the Dog & Bell with a buffet provided at around £5 per head (no contribution from club funds).
12 Any Other Business
a) Cycle Shop
Stephen asked whether Ian's weekend cycle shop in Greenwich Market was still open as it had not been open the previous Saturday. Apparently it has a new owner (Phil).
b) Bromley group
Derek reported that he and Andy had helped to set up a new borough group in Bromley, which now had 20+ active members (Co-ordinator: Andrew Fergar)
