Notes of monthly meeting held at 7.3Opm on Wednesday, 5 September 2001 at Greenwich Forum
Present: Barry Mason (chair), Nick, Julian, Ayako, Andy, Liz, Adrian, Dave, Richard, Lesley, Jim, Doug, Sabine, Greg, Barbara, David Thompson, David Senior, Tosca, Eeva, Linda (minutes), Maylene Catchpole (Greenwich Council Event Organiser).
1. Meeting opened, minutes agreed, introductions
2. Dome Path: hopefully opening on 17 September. Afterworker ride planned.
3. Car Free Day: Good publicity for GCs, Greenwich Events Guide notes all our September rides. CFD events changing daily. Maylene (and Sid Siddall) are main organisers of the Greenwich ëRoadworks' CFD. Maylene gave meeting a run down of events to date:- Japanese Barbeque, martial arts display, giant street games, Octopus bike, market stalls (arts and crafts), cafes and shops spilling onto streets, picnic tables, two bands, tram on King William Walk, circus street artists, large area for GCs to do whatever we wish, stunt riders (if GCs can acquire funding). At 2.00 Mayor's procession (shire horses and carriage, accompanied by decorated bikes, buggies, skates etc arrives CSG at 3.00.
The realisation of this event is a major coup for GCs and a lot of help is needed to ensure its success. 50K being spent by Greenwich Council but nothing on programming. GCs are putting £500 >from Thames Water ride towards the event.
Roads close at 6.00am. (King William Walk and College Approach). One side of one way system remains open. 11.00 ñ 5.00 is core time, roads reopen at 7.OOpm.
GCs hoping to fund stunt rider but to date sponsorship unforthcoming, 25 companies approached. Ideally 3.4K required but smaller display could be held at half cost.. If any members know of any firms who could contribute to this event please make contact, they will get exposure on the day.
Lewisham Cyclists organising ride to London Bridge events via Greenwich. LCC put out leaflet advertising rides around London on CFD. 2.OOpm at Tower Bridge is core venue. GCs no longer able to partake as this coincides with Mayor's procession in Greenwich. We have instigated this event for Greenwich, we need to give it our priority

The Octopus has been booked (Team: Julian, Nick, Andy, Jim & Greg) Volunteers required to collect and return from Dulwich Park.
GCs have a large fenced off area, crowd barriers provide bike parking
Obstacle Course: may borrow Southwarkís equipment, hiring 10 bikes, 2 riders at a time. (Team: Man, Simon, Jim, Barbara)
Dr Bike: Bob Woodliffe available all day
Bike Shop, Cycle Warehouse & Harry Perry will be selling bikes and helping with Dr Bike.
Pedal Power: special edition being produced
Cycle Training: 10 bikes, 2 trainers to arrive 10.00 depart 5.00
Stall: to sell T-shirts, leaflets, maps (Team: Ayako, Barbara, Liz, Kate, Linda)
Velodrome Float bike: Adrian organising a team to help ride the float
Route Map: huge map showing routes by which GC commute. Team: Chris le Breton, Jim Cheetham
