Friday 7th November
Our first regular Friday ride, saw eight of us setting off in sunshine down
the river path to Erith. What a great vista now from the Greenwich power
station to the Cutty Sark pub now that the builders hoardings are down ! We
drank coffee outside at the Firepower museum in the Woolwich Arsenal and ate
our lunch outside too at Erith pier. The brisk easterly wind made this a
fairly short stop, but the display of flags on the masts against the blue
sky was very attractive (though we couldn't read their message). Back along the river with the wind behind us was very pleasant. The group
split into two at the Woolwich ferry, half returning on the south side and
half crossing to the north. Some contrast on this side, with busy building
sites and frustrating gates preventing us from keeping to the riverside
path. Another split at Island gardens, with two taking the foot tunnel and
two continuing on to Tower bridge
