Broadway Market - Easter Day 23/03/08

Four of us at Cutty Sark in the sleet, a fifth joined us at Island Gardens for a wet, cold but cheerful saunter up Limehouse Cut to Three Bridges, sadly no coffee break because café shut as I had ascertained earlier when it was open during the week. Incidentally the scenic path from there to GreenWay and the northern sewage treatment plant, a gem to rival Crossness, is blocked by wooden boarding without explanation.

So it was Hertford Union canal path to Victoria Park, Hackney, for an Easter egg hunt among the daffodils in The Glade. Parked our bikes in Broadway Market outside The Dove after bartender kindly shifted his snazzy featherlight Bianchi to give us space, and a table looking onto street for our promptly served roast meals with wide choice of Belgian and other beers.

On to Islington canal tunnel and turn round, more pedestrians and joggers now that rain has stopped, but keen north wind chills our feet and hands so we're unusually glad of the walk through Greenwich foot tunnel which is warmer than the air above. Could it be the megawatts that blast out from the lift operators' heaters?
