Three of us set out for Essex on a morning which was more promising than the weather men had forecast. We rode from Wickford on a new route, making a circuit through or close to Woodham Ferrers, Woodham Mortimer, Woodham Walter, East Hanningfield, W Hanningfield and S Hanningfield as well as Hanningfield resevoir. It was a generally peaceful route with little traffic and gently rolling country. We had sun over lunchtime, one puncture, a little rain after lunch and heavier rain on the way back from Liverpool Street. 33 miles out and back to Wickford.
